Cornwall School Mining Games
Posted on: 24/06/2022HDS students had great fun competing in the Cornwall School Mining Games this term.
The Games were set to run in 2020 but due to the unprecedented effect of the Coronavirus outbreak they were postponed until this year.
Inspired by the International Student Mining Games that were held in Cornwall in 2018 by Exeter University, the games were held over 1 day at King Edward Mine Museum.
With the focus of the games being engineering (in particular mining engineering) our students got involved in Panning, Mineral Processing, Separating minerals from sand for extraction, Hand Steeling, Drilling into a concrete block, Surveying, Swede Saw, and Mucking.
A great time was had by all. Well done everyone!
