Community and International Engagement
Through participation in local events and partnership with international communities, our students develop a sense of social responsibility and a global outlook.
The creative talents of students and staff enhance a whole host of events within the local community. They showcase their Music, Drama and Art at festivals such as Mazey Day, Montol and Music on the Mount, as well as at a variety of venues throughout the year. In addition, the school provides rehearsal and recording facilities for over 350 musicians, choir members and budding actors and actresses each week.
Encouraged to participate in volunteering schemes, transition programmes within primary schools and charity fundraising initiatives, our students respond with maturity and compassion. We are proud to offer a global curriculum that promotes understanding and appreciation of other cultures.
Partner schools from Cuxhaven in Germany, Concarneau and Loperec in France, Zaragossa in Spain and Kisoro in Uganda facilitate curriculum projects, student and teacher exchanges and student visits. All the links are managed by a team of International Prefects who have made a commitment to use the partnerships to challenge the way our students think about global, humanitarian and environmental issues. They are fully involved in travelling, fundraising, giving assemblies and generally broadening cultural horizons. They are supported by the Interact Group and HDI Group who work in collaboration with the Rotary Club to support charities both in Cornwall and overseas.
