Geography Fieldwork in St Ives
Posted on: 14/03/2025Year 10 students visited St Ives this week as part of their Human Geography enquiry. Students were there to collect data to prove or disprove their hypothesis: “Traffic management in St Ives is ineffective”.
Students this year took the train to St Ives to evaluate alternative transport options to cars. This was a lovely experience other than one trip where the morning train was cancelled, however, it allowed students to see the impacts of cancelled public transport! When in St Ives, students completed questionaries with members of the public, completed traffic and pedestrian counts and carried out a land-use survey on the different types of buildings in St Ives. This data has enabled students to reach a decision as to whether they think traffic is managed effectively or not in the local area.
Our Year 10 students will complete the next part of the fieldwork process in school (data analysis, presentation and evaluation) in preparation for their final exam in Year 11. Well done Year 10!
