The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Posted on: 20/07/2026After a term of training and learning all the skills needed to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s expeditions, students were finally put to the test this term!
Practice expeditions gave students the chance to experience the entire expedition process, from preparation, planning and packing to walking, camping, cooking and looking after themselves and each other on the trail. They developed their navigation, teamwork and problem-solving skills while building the confidence and resilience needed for their qualifying expedition.
Following a successful practice, students headed out on their qualifying expeditions during the last week of term. Where they demonstrated determination, independence and perseverance every step of the way. Blessed with beautiful weather, they enjoyed miles of stunning scenery while putting all of their hard work and training into practice.
Whether navigating their routes, carrying heavy packs or supporting one another along the way, our students rose to every challenge with enthusiasm and should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is about so much more than completing an expedition. It provides students with the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones, develop valuable life skills and create lasting memories.
Well done to everyone who took part in this year’s Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s expeditions!
