HDS welcomed the BBC Bitesize ‘Other Side of the Story’ team on 14th and 15th October for a series of highly informative media literacy workshops with Year 8 and Year 9 students.

The interactive sessions explored artificial intelligence, misinformation on social media and what makes a reliable source. Students were encouraged to be critical and curious about the information they encounter online, considering how to decide what to trust and what to check before sharing - using the acronym ‘SQUID’ (Stop, Question and Investigate, Decide).

With links to English, PSHE, Citizenship and Computing, the workshops provided practical tips and tools to help our young people navigate news and social media with greater confidence.
