HDS is well known for always putting on fantastic festive performances for friends and family. This year, being unable to perform in the usual way, our musical students were still keen to spread some festive cheer to everyone this Christmas. With their fantastic ‘lockdown’ videos in mind they knew that, with the help of their music teachers, they would be able to put together a selection of musical ensembles to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

Overnight, our Drama studio was transformed into a Christmas video shoot, complete with various small stages, professional stage lighting, rugs, a Christmas tree and, of course, the obligatory fairy lights. With social distancing in mind, each musical section was shot separately, which ended up taking nearly ten hours of filming! With the students wearing headphones to listen to a guide track whilst they recorded, it was a very different experience to playing live. There was little room for error, but we were so impressed with how quickly our students adapted to this situation and the proof can be seen and heard in the two final recordings.

The outcome are two stunning musical creations from our Scholars and the Band of Fiasco with everything you would expect from our expert students. Well done to everyone involved, they really are magical videos, beautifully created.
