Rehearsals in Full Swing
Posted on: 20/05/2021Rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Students from all year groups have been working in their bubbles to develop their characters and are now starting to come together to bring their scenes to life.
Being creative within Covid-19 guidelines has meant that our performance has been directed away from our traditional indoor stage and gave inspiration to use ‘in the round’ staging in an outdoor setting. Students have been able to take advantage of our beautiful school grounds to conjure up a dream like world and magical forest setting for the performance which will allow our audience to socially distance whilst watching our talented students perform their version of this Shakespeare classic.
We have a large cast that spans across all year groups. Students are having lots of fun developing the comedy elements of the scenes and creating the magical moments that are full of surprises and high energy. The students are working hard to embrace the challenge of performing ‘in the round’ which makes every scene special from every angle. We also have plenty of backstage crew who are working together to get costumes, make-up, props and the music ready for show week.
The play is full of adventures including energetic cheeky fairies playing naughty tricks, a group of actors trying to practice their play, a singing donkey headed human and an epic argument about who loves who the most!
So get your picnic blankets ready for a fun filled performance full of magical fairies, mischief, mechanical mayhem and more. We can’t wait!
