Jack's Charity Drumathon

Posted on: 12/02/2025

On Wednesday 12th February, Year 7 student Jack, took on the challenge of drumming for 12 hours to raise money for two charities that are extremely close to his heart.  Jack’s mum was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer last summer and since then life has become more difficult.  Jack is a passionate drummer and musician so decided to use his talent as a way through this difficult time, while also helping others whose lives have been affected by Cancer.

Blurry eyed, Jack arrived at school at 6:30am on the 12th.  After a quick interview with BBC Radio Cornwall the clock turned to 7am and he was off! The support for Jack on the day was amazing.  Student ensembles played alongside him throughout the day and in between he was joined by his brother and drum teacher.  We had cake sales running at break and lunchtime to raise further funds towards Jack’s chosen charities.

What an incredible day it was, so many highlights, so much support, an all-round huge success!  Jack even received a message of support and well wishes from the drummer from band The Kooks!  As well as being presented with a signed drum head from his favourite drummer Danny from band Tool on completion of the 12 hours!

After creating such a buzz on the radio and across social media Jack was invited to appear on BBC Spotlight on Thursday evening. He really did take it all in his stride and we are blown away by his confidence in front of a microphone!

The total money raised for Jacks selected charities is now over £3500 and still rising!  What an incredible act of kindness and wonderful achievement, we are so proud of you. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.  If you would like to donate, Jack’s JustGiving pages are still live. Follow the links below.
