Pewter Casting in 3D Design
Posted on: 07/11/2024Celebrating Creativity in 3D Design: KS3 Students Shine with Pewter Casting Projects
We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of our Key Stage 3 students, who have recently completed a remarkable 3D Design project exploring the art of pewter casting. As part of our new 3D Design curriculum, students took on the challenge of designing and creating their own unique pieces—from conceptual sketches to final cast outcomes.
Using pewter, a malleable metal ideal for intricate designs, the students experimented with different shapes and techniques to bring their ideas to life. With the guidance of our Design and Technology team, they explored the entire casting process, learning essential skills in mould-making, metalwork, and polishing. Each piece reflects not only the creativity of its designer but also a dedication to craftsmanship and an impressive attention to detail.
The results are truly inspiring, with students producing a beautiful collection of pewter creations. From intricate key chains to imaginative pendants, each piece is a testament to the talent and hard work of our KS3 students.
This project marks the beginning of an exciting journey into 3D Design, giving students the chance to engage in hands-on learning and build foundational skills in design and engineering. Congratulations to all our young designers on their outstanding work! We look forward to seeing even more creative projects from them in the future.
